Acknowledging God

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5,6

Here is a command with a promise: “In ALL thy ways ACKNOWLEDGE him, and he shall direct thy paths.” If you ACKNOWLEDGE God in all areas of your life, He will direct you in His will for your life. If you want to be led by the Spirit of God, ACKNOWLEDGE Him. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God. Rom. 8:14. But what does it mean to ACKNOWLEDGE God?

According to Webster’s:

Acknowledge. (vt.)

  • to admit as true
  • to recognize the authority or claims of
  • to respond to
  • to express thanks
  • to state that one has received [something]

This is quite a revelation. I personally have only been operating on definition #4 up till now.

To ACKNOWLEDGE God, RECOGNIZE His authority (I Jn 2:3), ADMIT that He’s always true and correct (Rom 3:4), RESPOND accordingly to what he tells you (Jn 9:31), THANK Him for what He has done for you (I Thess 5:18), and STATE unashamed that you have RECEIVED His Son, Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Saviour (Lk 12:8,9).
