Instruction In Righteousness: Content For Christians
There is more to Christian life than just salvation. The Bible says that the new Christian needs to desire the milk of the Word. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” (1 Peter 2:2). We must not remain babes in the faith, we must grow.
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (Eph 2:14-15).
For this reason alone, we need to grow in the faith. Here, we present materials for those who are already Christians, to help them grow in the faith. Topics including worshiping God: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matt 22:37), doctrine: “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” (1 Tim 4:13), service: “I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.”(Rev 2:19), holy living: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Rom 12:1), soulwinning: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Prov 11:30), and standards and convictions: “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” (Rom 14:15)..
The Principles of the Doctrine of Christ
The Principles of the Doctrine of Christ are the very basic doctrines of the faith. These doctrines are, however, very important for all Christians to know. Hebrews Chapter 6 tells us that we need to know these in order to go on to perfection. And, unfortunately, some of these, especially baptisms (yes, it's plural), and laying on of hands, are either confused or even omitted by denominational "tradition." These articles are written for the new Christian to ground them in the faith, but also for those who do not have a full understanding of these doctrines. We need to learn the principles of the doctrine of Christ, so that we can go on to the more meaty doctrines and perfection.
Hebrews 5 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Ch 6 1 Therefore LEAVING the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.Let the Lord Take Your Load Make Him Your Strength
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I […]
Divine Protection in God’s Secret Place A verse-by-verse study of Psalm 91
End times prophecy is full of warnings of coming great calamities. The book of Revelation warns of great upheaval. It tells of great earthquakes, terrible plagues, and unthinkable death tolls. Yet it also clearly states that there will be survivors. Jesus Christ Himself also warned of wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes. But […]
A Clean Name or a New Name? Finally, a Baptist Pastor breaks the silence and calls for reform in the IFB movement.
Finally, a Baptist Pastor breaks the silence on abuse and unbiblical practices in some IFB churches. I have personally seen most of what is on his list below. What is bothersome to our name, however, is that in some places, being independent fundamental Baptist is not simply about doctrine. Many times, in […]
Salvation Unto Good Works
We are saved by faith, not works. But that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do anything. We show our faith to others by our works. By works is your faith made manifest: shew [show] me thy faith without thy works and I will shew thee my faith by my works” (James 2:18). We […]
Character Analysis of Some Bible Husbands
(Editor’s note: This was originally a paper written for the course Godly Husband at Grace Baptist College.) The Bible presents to us many examples of husbands. The men portrayed are human, not perfect, with both positive and negative traits. In this paper, the character traits of David, Job, Noah, and Lot will be examined. David […]

Why I Hate Sissy Preaching, Part 1
A message preached from the chapel pulpit, February 1, 2010. Part 2 may be preached soon, if the Lord desires. Editorial note: In the closing moments of the sermon, I made a positive remark about the late Jack Hyles. However, after much study, I have concluded that I cannot support Jack Hyles. (Views: […]

Christian Baptism Made Simple
Baptism is one of the two ordinances of the Bible and the local church. It was instituted by our Lord to be a ready identification with the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, and is a basic confession of faith and the first step of obedience for the new Christian. It is to […]
Contemporary Christian Music Rips Off Hymns Whatever happened to the "new song" of CCM?
Modern music trends have been pointed downhill for many decades. Rock, rap, ect. have been born out of a spirit of rebellion. Unfortunately, this wordiness has crept into the churches via “Christian” rock and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). (CCM, while not as bad as Christian rock, tends to have fluffy, anointed, unscriptural lyrics.) However, I […]
Living in Christ Keys to thriving in these troubled times.
Psalms 91:1-31. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.2. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the […]
Rejoice Not in Iniquity A Christian Response to the Murder of an Abortionist
Charity… Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 1 Corinthians 13:6 This past Sunday, the notorious abortionist George Tiller was gunned down as he ushered outside of his church. “Tiller the killer” is most likely in hell, suffering the full penalty for his heinous crimes. Christians, however, should not boast in Tiller’s murder. […]
Biblical Unity vs Biblical Separation Know when to have unity, when to separate.
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; (Philippians 1:27) Behold, how good and how pleasant […]
Preaching and Teaching from the Book of Acts

Romans 13 What does it really mean?
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Romans 13:1,2 On these […]

This Is What You Could Have Had How to Loose Your Eternal Rewards
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. II John vs 8 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;13 […]
Psalm 117 The Shortest Chapter, But with a Powerful Message
Psalm 117 1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD. With only two verses, Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the entire Bible. Yet […]
