Introduction
1 Peter 5:6-10
8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
We as Christians battle three enemies every day. We go up against our flesh, the old nature within us that wants to sin. Our flesh strives against the Holy Spirit of God within us, encouraging us to sin. The world also is our enemy. The world is the influence of people, places, and things that we encounter that pressure us to sin. The carnal man is driven by his internal lusts. The worldly man is driven by external influences. (The worldly man is a chameleon; he fits in quite well in the Church scene and with godly people. But when with carnal Christians or unsaved people, blends to fit in with them.)
The third enemy, is Satan himself, with all his evil forces. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. You, on your own, are powerless against the devil. But here is the good news: Jesus Christ DEFEATED Satan at Calvary 2000 years ago. The devil is a defeated foe. But is the he defeated in your life? Here are a few things you must do to defeat the devil in your life.
Eph 6:11-18
This is the Christians armor. We must possess all the armor to be effective against the adversary the devil.
Helmet of Salvation
The lost are taken captive by the devil at his will (2 Tim 2:26)
If you are not saved, you are already enslaved by the devil!
If you die in your sins, the devil will have the ultimate victory as you burn in Hell
